Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Dena graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She has been accepting commissions for custom portraits since 1992.
Most of her work is black and white - either pencil or pen/ink – as she believes the piece becomes more about content when there is no color to redirect the viewer. She has won awards for her art, displayed her portraits for several years at the Calgary Stampede and has been published in Quilting Arts Magazine and Dogs Annual magazine.
Dena creates art and quilts in her spare time while co-managing Pilot Bay Resort and Charter Services with her husband and two dogs.
