Kootenay Lake Ferry Schedule

The Kootenay Lake Ferry is the longest free ferry in North America.  Crossing time is 35 minutes; with added time to load/unload, sailings are every 50 minutes (during peak times).  During the early morning and evening, only the MV Osprey 2000 is in service.  The Osprey is a year round service, with additional sailings added during the summer months on the MV Balfour (see green times on chart).  Light food services are available only on the Osprey 2000.

Kootenay Lake is one of very few ice-free lakes in Canada and during winter months the MV Osprey 2000 schedule is maintained.  However with the (daylight savings) time change, the sailings are one hour later on "East Shore time" (Mountain Standard) as the Creston Valley does not change times - keep this in mind if you are traveling during the winter or ask a local.
